Okay boys and girls, a decision is still left to be made so I guess we should talk about it now. The poll is running for 12 days from today, you can choose out of three possibilities.

Pro UDMF
  • More functionality and easier to work with
  • Feature showcase for ZDoom (one of the main goals of ZDCMP2)
  • Less restrictions (e.g. no max tags of 255)

Pro Hexen format
  • Everyone is used to that
  • Can be handled by DoomBuilder 1 and other map editors as well

Learning UDMF won't be too hard, it's even easier to work with than Hexen format, so for people who haven't touched it yet don't worry, it's not a big deal if you are using DB2. But well, let's see...

Am I wrong that I took a manly position and voted for something else than "I don't care", even if I'm not contributing to this project?

Obviously, I'd vote for UDMF, but since I'm not gonna map for this, I don't think it's right to do an actual voting. So...

UDMF is much better indeed, but considering pros of hexen format for zdoom mappers can't run doom builder 2, I vote for hexen format
wut?

UDMF. The extra features gives it the edge.

UDMF seems to be the norm for ZDoom mapping now a days so I would go with that

I'd really like to know if those people who voted Hexen can also handle UDMF

I'm a Linux user, so I'm using SLADE 2 for mapping. No UDMF there. I do have DB2 on a windows partition but it refuses to run at all.. it crashes on startup. If we do UDMF format I'm afraid I'll have to drop out. :/

Is there a Hexen to UDMF converter? Maybe you could build your part then in Hexen and we incorporate it later?
