Hello guys,

I've been using the Vulgar for a while now, and I like it quite a bit, but one thing that has me a bit puzzled is the fact that it seems to be missing sound effects for its projectile sight and death noises. Its projectile is scripted to use the sounds "poly/stmdr1" as its SeeSound and "weapons/bloodx" as its DeathSound, but these sounds are not defined in the SNDINFO lump, nor are they used anywhere in the core zDoom/gzDoom .pk3 SNDINFO lump as far as I can tell. Are they simply missing? I kind of suspect that the attack sounds were scripted with the assumption that the monster was going to be used in some sort of megawad with shared resources, but these specific resources just didn't get copied to the submission for stand-alone use.

Considering that this seems to be a fairly popular monster, I'd have a hard time believing that nobody noticed this earlier, which makes me feel a little uncomfortable asking about it... :fear: ...but it doesn't work out-of-the-box, so I'm pretty sure it's not something I'm doing wrong.

Personally, for the version I'm using in my project, I'm just using "imp/attack" for his projectile SeeSound, and using the Hexen poison gas "poof" for the projectile's DeathSound.

The projectile is also lacking a decal assignment, too, but that's a bit less apparent. I just use the ImpScorch decal.

In Demon Eclipse, it uses the "steam door open" and "acid glob hit" sounds from Hexen, for fire and hit (respectively). Shouldn't be too hard to add, albeit with much better names. (I'd replace the fire sound though, personally.)

Right on. Will it get a decal assignment too?

Sweet. Hey, on the subject of decals, I noticed a few other monsters are missing decal assignments; can I start up a separate thread to report the ones I've found so far?
