I feel like the sprites are really too similar to the Blood Fiend  (also it being just a recolor of the normal demon doesn't help).
I do also think that the missile state is too slow or it lacks more frames, cause having the monster to stop for 24 tics on a frame (not a particularly "catchy" frame either) and then shoot real slow fireballs, is a bit of a letdown.

This monster reminds me of the Pyro Imp , but as Kan3 said, the sprite edit and behavior are too simple.

I say keep the "Chaingun" and "FastBall" attacks, but you should give it a custom projectile, instead of using regular Imp fireballs.
There's still the problem with the monster sprites, they should be more interesting than just a red demon. Here's an example of an alternate look that keeps the red theme, but adds extra details:

Maybe take some inspiration from Pyro Imp and Hell-Forged's Bloodfiend. Keep the original Fire Demon, extend his existing spikes, add some more spikes, sharper teeth for melee damage, and maybe add claws for looks. Heretic's FX06 sprite set can be use as the monster's projectile. Lastly, give him a flame breath attack for close range. These are my suggestions.

 

I agree with Warhawk - a close range fire breath attack could be cool, like a flamethrower. Maybe it could charge up big fireballs at mid/far range, and have a dragon breathe attack close up?
