While this pickup looks like something that could fit also for Heretic or Hexen (floatin', but for Doom is still perfect), I don't see why you wrote "...if no pickup armor is present at time of pickup, armor will act like green armor": I tried this armor with Doom 2 under GZDoom, summoned it via console and got it - 10 points of armor, even if I hadn't any Green one with me. I think it needs some work through ACS (or a more decorate neat way) to reproduce your desired effect IMHO, now it acts nothing more than a simple bit enpowered armor pickup.

[EDIT]: Maybe you've got quite confused with ArmorBonus and GreenArmor...

He means it'll have the same protection rate as a green armor (and armor bonus, for that matter), which is 33.335%.

Then Jimmy needs to edit a bit its description IMHO, because it says that "...will act like green armor..." and nothing that regards protection rate instead. But these are minor nitpicks.

I understood what he meant, though there's no harm in clarifying the description a bit to mean the protection rate because yeah, it's a bit vague. :P

Relatedly, though, I think my only real criticism is that if you pick it up without already having armor, then it uses the standard armor bonus sprite as its armor icon; I feel it should use its own sprite. That's how the armor shard behaves, for example--it uses its own pickup sprite as the armor icon if the user doesn't already have armor.

Anyways, I like this a lot. I'm not going to lie; just based off the preview, I didn't care for the sprite very much due to its color scheme, but after loading it up in-game, I was actually pretty pleased; the full animation set makes the colors work. I can kind of see why these weren't used in the final game, but I think they're definitely worth using for something like this.

I think that those horned pickups were not added to Doom because a bit out of scheme/consistence, but I'm also OK with you: it looks pretty neat.

Interestingly, this is the case with GZDoom only. In ZDoom, the armor bonus, and ultimately this, show the green armor icon instead of their own.

According to Graf, this inconsistency is intentional .

I didn't know that, actually; I mostly ever use GZDoom nowadays, so that's probably why. I still think it would be nice if this had 'Inventory.Icon "BON4A0"' included for the benefit of GZDoom users, but that's a very minor thing. :)
